Some Like It Hot

Wind Chill Advisory. And where are we? Well, by WE, I mean Husband is outside playing plowing hoop house #2....
The rest of WE are in The Baby Barn.
...with a space heater. Baby Barn Selfie!
Ending the day with a trip to the "Convenience Station" as the city calls it. Also know as The DUMP.

There's Always Something to Do on The Farm

Someone asked me, "What could you be doing NOW, in winter?" Well....
Sometimes we play.

More often we work. Thing 1 and Thing 2 (aka our teenagers) helping out.
 Clearing the way....
....for more fun on the zero turn mower we HAD to have.
And fortunately help arrived right on time.
Remember that tree trying to be incognito? This is it's root we had to pull out with the tractor power.

Progress:

Look, It's Not That Bad

Um, YEAH, duh, it IS.

Notice the bonafide TREE acting as if it's supposed to be there.

But we had fun with that clean up too. Together.

 Until this happened....

Oh well, we made it home eventually, just a little more tired and muddy.

The Baby Barn

Understatement that the baby barn was a shambles. Also understatement that Husband is a straight up Fool, capital F. Clean up day. smh....

It's all fun and games until The Unexpected Farm Girl makes you buy bins to organize your tools.
Ummm....The Fool, vacuuming.

When I Close My Eyes, I See Sunshine

This is where we left off in 2011. Ripe, juicy, delectable raspberries. A successful year at the farmer's market in 2010 had yielded dollars as well as knowledge. Aren't they pretty? But then....

JUST Yummy Raspberries.

We got side tracked. Distracted. Met other priorities. Whatever you want to call it, we weren't farming. Husband and I, plus Thing 1 and Thing 2 (also known as our 2 teenage boys). So as we stepped out onto our 23 acres January 1st of 2015, we decided to....well....what? In the illustrious words of LL Cool J....don't call it a comeback, let's call it revisiting our roots. Literally. Because as seen below, we have a whole lot of roots, attached to full grown trees a little bit of overgrowth to evict from the hoop houses before we can do ANYTHING. Time to call on the old Ford Tractor to bail us out.

Oh gosh darn, this is our farm in need of rehab.
The hoop houses....in as-is condition.
Made in the USA trusty Ford

Pretty dusky out this morning. But when I close my eyes, I smile. I see sunshine, and bumble bees doing their job and us laughing as we work. Like we used to. And will once again. Because there's a whole lot that's right about sunrise and sunset on the farm.
